NOMAD is a community-based
program dedicated to supporting the swimming needs of the youth of
north Mecklenburg County and surrounding areas. It was created by
Steve Billings in 1991. As a member USA swim organization, NOMAD is
a year-round competition swim team, offering progressive programs
to swimmers on all levels. NOMAD is a coach owned organization
whose first commitment is to the needs of the swimmers in the
The purpose of NOMAD (North
Mecklenburg AQUA DEVILS) is to develop the bodies and minds of our
swimmers through discipline and the spirit of competitive swimming.
The swimmers will develop many social and life skills in our
program. They learn independence through competition.
Swimming requires a strong
commitment and this develops strong discipline in the individual.
Good sportsmanship is stressed at all times by the coaches,
parents, and other teammates. The friendships formed give the
individual needed security when meeting and working with people. In
the end, your child becomes a well-rounded individual.
As parents, we encourage you
to become an active participant of NOMAD. You can watch your
children grow and develop in many ways. Swimming is a family
participation sport through meet involvement, practice,
fund-raising and carpooling. This sport provides something for

information contained in it may change from season to season and is
designed so that the changes can be made easily.
While NOMAD appreciates the
Olympic dream, NOMAD strives to encourage and further children's
current dreams, goals and abilities. We care, we make you a part of
